We at TRC Prison Ministry offer a Christian Facility for recently released inmates to aid them in establishing a lifestyle that is as much in line with God's will as it is functional in a real world. Our goal is to provide a one year program that will "take the prison out of the prisoner". That is, to disciple them in Christian living that does not shame our Lord. This is accomplished through our in residence program, which will help them return to society as members of the evangelical church of their choice. Gainfully employed, housed and walking with the Lord and shining His light as a city on a hill. From this point on we have passed the baton to the church they hold their own membership in. With the foundation firmly established we entrust them to their Pastors as they take these first new steps into the rest of their lives.
TRC Prison Ministry is also there, behind the bars, to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ within the of correctional institutions and to reach beyond the bars to families. This is done through the impact of a Spirit filled, with praise and worship, testimonies and the word of God. Then we meet with the inmates in small groups of five to ten for personal sharing, testimonies, prayer and support. Our goal with this aspect of our ministry is to make inmates "sons of God" who will reach out to others with the good news, and be able to live a life pleasing to God upon their release having the tools while incarcerated through this outreach.
By my own experience, I have known that the greatest hope an inmate has for avoiding the revolving doors of prison is to undergo a true "born again" experience; not just a religious experience during his incarceration. I know this because I myself have spent over sixteen years behind those locked doors. Always in the same mind set and always asking myself "WHY?". Now I know why; it is because I always did the same thing and always got the same results. Today I know that to experience a true born again conversion gives such a feeling of peace and newness of life with Jesus, it gives you a hope and that's one thing that can make all the difference. (Luke 19:10) He came to seek out and to save the lost.
Our vision at TRC Prison Ministry is:
1) To be a people the surrounding community can look upon and see the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2) To disciple men that have been incarcerated,or who are seeking to get their lives back, from all walks of life - in the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ in order for them to be able to live productive lives.
3) To provide a place that meets the needs of the individuals and families of those who were incarcerated or homeless.
4) Implement Bible studies, host guest speakers and initiate a mentoring program that will aid the men and their families walk in their new found lives.
